Sex & Health Writer
Are you the sex guru of your friend group? Do you have a love for GIFs and originally reported and researched articles? Have you seen Masters of Sex and every episode of Broad City (bonus points for watching the YouTube show before it got picked up)? Do you want to get paid to write brutally honest and evidence-based articles about sexual health and relationships?
tabú is looking for part-time writers to contribute content for its online publication ranging from “what to do when your partner thinks your vagina reeks” to “how to get over your fear of talking dirty in bed.” The ideal candidate is an excellent storyteller and has a keen sense for digital content and packaging — AKA writing your own headlines, pitching a lot and outlining articles.
We’re seeking a badass who is passionate about fearlessly entering taboo territory and is opinionated on topics like masturbation, IUDs, birth control and Trump’s 3 am tweets.
Too many people are embarrassed to buy condoms at their local convenience store and too many women are ashamed of their lopsided breasts. At tabú, we want to provide our readers with informative and relatable editorials, features and essays on sex to break the stigmas surrounding it.
Pitch and write 1-3 articles per week.
- 1-2 years experience writing for a publication or personal blog.
- Background in journalism and/or sexual health
- Good interviewing skills.
- Easily translate scientific jargon into useful information.
- All articles must be evidence and research based — aka statistics and original reporting.
- Proficient self-editing skills.
- Social media connoisseur.
- Experience with multimedia a plus.
To apply, send a resume and cover letter explaining why you want to write for tabú and what you’d bring to the table. Attach two of your best relevant clips via URL or in a document.
Pay is negotiable. Please do bear in mind we are a small, bootstrapped startup!
